How to bypass government censorship on the web?
September 26th, 2009
I’m American but live and work in Thailand. Here the government actively monitors what people do on the internet and block anything illegal. Certain P2P file sharing websites cannot be accessed from any server in the country. Is there a way to bypass a nationwide block?
Just curious. Thanks
Yes this is possible. You have two options here. First you could try a free tool like http://www.ghacks.net/2006/01/30/torpark/ Torpark which acts as an anonymizer and does not reveal your true location to your ISP or a commercial service like http://www.ghacks.net/2006/08/14/relakks-the-first-commercial-darknet/ Relakks which acts as a VPN and has the same functionality as Torpark.
You could also try simple http://www.ghacks.net/2006/08/04/free-web-proxy-list/ webproxies but those will only help you surf the web, no p2p possible.

Yes, I live in THailand too. I notice more and more web sites are being blocked. I tried anonmyzer.com, even it was blocked. On top of the high cost and poor service I get from my Thai isp, now we are subject to censorship.
Let me know what works for you
Tom
