Can a external hard drive be used to store movies downloaded online?
Author: admin // Category: download movies onlineI want to download movies online, i know how and all. But I dont want my computer being junked up with all the downloads. So I was wondering can a portable external hard drive be used like a usb drive? to store all the data of the downloaded films? If not is there a way to do this in a better fashion?
well then dont answer why waist your time typing a responc like that?
Hi BlondeBombShell90, yes you can. There are 2 ways to go about it:
1. Always download to your main hard drive first and then connect your external hard drive to cut and paste over from the main hard drive.
2. Connect and power up your external hard drive before you do your downloading. In your download software settings, change the download path (the location where you wish to save the files) to your external hard drive. Viola~
Do let me know if you have any other problems.
Have fun downloading~

Yes. I store all of my movies, music and pictures on external hard drives. It’s a great way of keeping your computer’s load lighter. But if the hard drive fails, you’ve lost your data. So its good to backup those drives if you plan on keeping the data for a long time.
You can also use "cloud" storage. If you have a mac.com account they give you 10G with the account. Of course you can always upgrade the service and get more space. With this option you can access your files from anywhere in the world that has a connection to the internet.
Disney also announced they are planning a digital media "locker" type service called Keychest where in the future you would be able to store any purchased media you bought in one place, whether it was bought on Amazon, iTunes, EpixHD, etc. It’s not available yet so we’ll have to see how that will exactly work when it comes out.

Yes U can, but be selective in your choice of external drive. Your best choice would be a 1TB drive with a firewire connection. The 1TB drives are dropping in price all the time, say $350-400. They need be large because movies are *big* files- and a 1TB drive won’t need to be switched out/replaced for some time. Firewire interface is your fastest connection (so far),save your daily files on your home drive, but partition the larger drive for your more valuable files.
BTW, consider "cloud" storage: there are several services that can handle large files. U need a high-speed optical cable, otherrwise they can be slow in transfer. There;s a monthly service charge, but your space is as big as U want, and very safe -no crashes- and cost may be less than hardware.
Hope this helps- enjoy.
